About
A selection of photos from my senior exhibition at Northern Arizona University. This solo exhibition took place in May of 2013 at the Applied Research and Development building on NAU's campus. These pieces are cone 10 glazed stoneware fired in a reduction gas-kiln. Pieces range in height from 18 to 36 inches.
The forms are pierced allowing the viewer limited access to the otherwise hidden interior. This was done as a means to explore the relationship between the interior and exterior of a form in a medium that often balances art and functionality. In this case a potentially functional form is no longer capable of holding anything but space. The viewer is able to explore this altered relationship as light filters to the interior through the many piercings.
